Materials and technologies

  • The majority of our filament (what the models are made from) are manufactured in Canada and are FDA certified as food safe. PLA is made from corn starch, cassava roots, or sugarcane, making the process sustainable and renewable.

  • We have over 50 different colours and filament materials on hand. If we don’t have the colour you want we will source it out for you.

  • Projects can be single colour or up to 4 colours on any item

  • PLA: easy-to-print, good for prototypes, displays and non-load-bearing parts, FDA Food Safe.

  • PETG: tougher and more durable than PLA; FDA Food Safe, UV protection, withstands higher heat (eg. interior of car).

  • ABS: higher temperature resistance and stronger mechanical properties.

  • TPU (flexible): for gaskets, seals and flexible components.

  • Specialty filaments: wood-fill, metal-fill and other finishes on request.

Design and file requirements

  • There are many websites that have free and paid-for 3D models that may already have what you are looking for in a design. Most of these can also be modified to suit your specific needs.

  • Preferred file formats: STL, 3MF or OBJ for 3D models; 2D sketches (PDF, PNG, JPG, PSD) for reference.

  • Minimum wall thickness and detail limits depend on material and part size; we’ll review and advise.

  • If you don’t have a ready file, we offer design and reverse-engineering services: 3D scanning, CAD modelling and part modification.
